The Browns have yet to confirm the move or terms of the deal.
York was selected by the Browns in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and spent the 2022-23 season as Cleveland’s starting kicker. After lifting the Browns to a dramatic Week 1 victory over Baker Mayfield’s Carolina Panthers with a 58-yard field goal, the LSU product went 35 of 37 extra-point attempts and 24 of 32 field goal attempts during his rookie season.
York was ousted by the Browns after missing half of his attempted field goals the following preseason. He was waived two weeks before the season 2023-24 following Cleveland trading for veteran placekicker Dustin Hopkins.
Hopkins went on to go 33 of 36 on field-goal tries and made all eight attempts beyond 50 yards. He was out for the playoffs after injuring his hamstring while trying to catch a kickoff returner in a Dec. 24 game at Houston.
York spent time on the practice squads of the Tennessee Titans and New York Giants last year.
Hopkins remains on the Browns’ depth chart and is under contract for 2024.
