Another Peach State defender on the Alabama Crimson Tide’s radar is set to come off the board today.
Earlier this week, Alabama landed a commitment from Eastman (Ga.) Dodge County’s Darrell “Duke” Johnson. Now, attention has been shifted to fellow 2025 prospect Luke Metz. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker hails from Mill Creek High School in Hoschton (Ga.).
Metz, who was offered by the Tide earlier this month, is set to announce his decision on Sunday. He did not release an official group of finalists, but Alabama immediately became a contender for him following the offer and hosted him for a visit this week.

What to know ahead of Alabama LB target Luke Metz’s announcement
Alabama officially dipped into the mix for Metz back on March 4. Communication with Bama, however, had been ongoing for the weeks leading up to his offer, with the entire coaching staff following him on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Prior to the offer, Metz was down to a top six of Duke, LSU, Ole Miss, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Alabama immediately became a contender in his recruitment as he grew up a fan of the school, and has connections to the state.
“They are definitely in my top two-three” Metz told BOL after being offered. “I have been an Alabama fan forever. My grandparents lived in Birmingham. I’ve always liked the Tide and Nick Saban. I’ve always liked the overall Alabama legacy and how they always win. I watched them all the time as a kid, kept track of everything and watched all the legends who played there.”
Since receiving the good news from defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, Metz has been offered by Arizona State and Michigan. He visited LSU earlier this month, and was in Tuscaloosa for his first visit of the year this past Thursday.
BOL has submitted our prediction for Metz HERE.
If Metz does commit to Bama on Sunday, it would continue a hot streak for the new staff on the trail.
So far this month, Alabama has landed commitments from five Class of 2025 prospects. Things got started on March 2 when the Tide flipped Antonio Coleman from Auburn. In a three-day span a week later, Bama added in-state target Derick Smith and Maryland athlete Zymear Smith to the fold.
This week alone, DeBoer and his staff earned verbal pledges from the aforementioned Duke Johnson, then West Coast linebacker Abduall Sanders a day later.
With seven total commitments, Alabama currently checks in at No. 5 in the On3 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings.
