Heartbreak: Ajax Amsterdam greatest player of all time has terminated his contract to sign new contract.

Jordan Henderson has traveled to Amsterdam in order to complete his transfer from Al-Ettifaq, a Saudi Arabian club, to Ajax.

Herman Pinkster, general manager of the team, was seen driving the 33-year-old former captain of Liverpool away after he arrived at Schiphol Airport.

Before finalizing the details of a rumored two-and-a-half-year contract, Henderson is anticipated to undergo a medical examination; nonetheless, he will be accepting a significant pay decrease from his reportedly £350,000-per-week salary in Saudi Arabia.

Henderson, a non-EU citizen, may not be able to play against RKC Waalwijk on Sunday, according to sources, and it might take up to two weeks for his work visa to be approved.

Just six months after joining the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, Henderson struck a deal to end his contract, according to a Mail Sport story on Wednesday. He then returned to England to finalize arrangements for an unexpected move to the Netherlands.

The former captain of Liverpool will sign a free transfer to Ajax, but because he turned down a three-year contract with Al-Ettifaq, the move will cost him millions in taxes.

During talks on Tuesday at the team’s winter training camp in Abu Dhabi, it is believed that Al-Ettifaq grudgingly agreed to let Henderson go in exchange for the 33-year-old getting the vital assurance that they would not demand a fee.

Henderson has acted as his own representative during the talks, and a deal with Ajax is anticipated to be finalized in the coming days. The duration of his contract is still up for negotiation, although it is not anticipated to be a major issue.

It’s believed that Ajax wants to give him an 18-month contract with a 12-month option that may be changed to a two-and-a-half year contract.

If all goes according to plan, he might end up making his debut at Heracles on January 27. A few technicalities still need to be worked out.

The Telegraph revealed on Wednesday that Henderson had not received a single cent of his tantalizing £350,000 weekly salary at Al-Ettifaq due to deferred payments over the previous six months. This news coincides with the player’s scheduled medical appointment.

Even worse, the article purports that some people close to the player think that Henderson will never receive the money he is due.

It is believed claimed taxes were the cause of the wage delay, with some of the motivation allegedly coming from his desire to represent England upon his return to the UK.
