Regretfully, Luke Williams formally addressed the squad and supporters with a strong message.
As he settles into his new position, Swansea head coach Luke Williams says he wants to create an emotional bond with the players and supporters.
Players, staff, and supporters have greeted Williams warmly upon his return to SA1, and the 43-year-old says he hopes to strengthen that bond with the Jack Army.
Starting with their trip to Birmingham City this weekend, he claims his “mission” is to make supporters proud of the team.
Williams added, “I had a wonderful reception from the supporters, and everyone at the club has been incredibly warm.”
“To make them proud of the squad, we have to put in a lot of effort. Here, it is our goal. The supporters and this team should have a genuine relationship, which we want to ensure.
Such links are formed when the team plays in a style that thrills and evokes strong emotions in individuals.
“A cheerful, goal-scoring squad with players who fight hard for one another, make strong recovery runs, and seek the ball exudes true energy.
That is, I think, incredibly powerful when people see and experience it. We beat Cardiff 3-0 the first time I was here, and I still remember how we played. You cannot avoid connecting with the supporters when you do it.
“I turned around after we scored the third goal that day, yelling, ‘Come on,’ and looked across at a fan who was doing the same thing behind the dugout. Those are the connections and emotions we hope to evoke in others.

The full-back returned to parent club, Newcastle United, at the start of December to determine the extent of his hamstring problem.
“He’s had a scan,” claimed former supervisor Michael Duff at the time. “The two clubs are currently conversing, but I’m not sure what the diagnosis is exactly. He has temporarily returned to Newcastle. They want to look more into what it is since he’s their player. Ultimately, in my opinion, he is unavailable for the next two or three weeks. We’re not really sure where it stands until they conduct this investigation.”
