Due to the misunderstanding the loyal player of Tiger Cats has terminated his contract to sign a new contract
By re-signing Canadian kicker Marc Liegghio and international punter Kaare Vedvik, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have guaranteed their kicking unit for the 2024 campaign. Next week was supposed to mark the players’ free agency status.
Just before the 2023 regular season got off, Liegghio signed a free agency contract with the Tiger-Cats. He made 41 of 47 field goal tries, good for an 87.2 percent conversion rate with a long of 50 yards. He also attempted 27 out of 32 conversions.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers selected the 26-year-old Woodbridge, Ontario native in the fifth round of the 2020 CFL Draft. Over the course of two seasons with the team, he made 37 out of 47 field goals, good for a 78.7 percent conversion rate with a long of 55 yards. He punted 183 times as well.
After spending time in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Washington Football Team, and Jacksonville Jaguars, the 29-year-old native of Stavanger, Norway, signed with Saskatchewan as a second-round selection in the 2021 CFL Global Draft.
Over the course of 32 career CFL games, the six-foot-three, 215-pound punter has punted 185 times for a gross average of 44.6 yards.
On Friday, June 7, the Ticats will play the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium to kick off the 2024 regular season.
