The Sacramento Kings defeated the Utah Jazz 130-114 on Wednesday night to start the NBA regular season, but head coach Mike Brown’s post-game remarks were entirely focused on the mass tragedy in Lewiston, Maine.
Brown conveyed his grief at the massacre, which claimed the lives of at least eighteen people.
“I’m not even interested in talking about basketball,” a clearly distraught Brown stated.
“It’s sad that we sit here and watch this happen time after time after time after time and nobody does anything about it,” Brown went on to say. It’s a depressing day for our nation. The world is in mourning today.”
Mike Brown spoke on the incident in Maine last night at the news conference following the game.

Well, they emphatically improved that head-to-head matchup to 4-0 with a blowout win that prompted head coach Mike Brown to apologize to those in attendance. Without Zion Williamson, the Pelicans built a 12-point lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back. CJ McCollum finished with 30 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Mike Brown apologized to their support base right away when he initially took the podium after the game. “I have nothing much to say,” he said. They simply kicked us in the rear. I’m sorry for the supporters that came to see the game today and paid for admission.
