Jonathan Taylor is Thankful for what he is learning from colts.
In 2021, Taylor was the league’s top rusher and a prime example of how important running backs may still be in the NFL. He was well-blocked by the Colts’ offensive line, but he also exceeded expectations by leading the league in running yards, making better use of that blocking to get larger gains than his teammates. Taylor led the league with 23 rushes of 15 yards or more, averaging 3.8 yards after contact.
Since Taylor had an incredible season as the top running back in football last year, this rating feels a little low. In addition to being named to the NFL First-Team All-Pro, he led the league in running yards (1,811), rushing touchdowns (18), and carries (332).
Before the Colts’ shocking late-season collapse (which was not caused by Taylor’s play), he was a legitimate MVP and OFfensive Player of the Year candidate. At only 23, and with a strong offensive line behind him, Taylor is expected to have another successful season in 2022—though perhaps not quite as spectacular statistically, given that the new quarterback Matt Ryan should improve the Indianapolis passing game and require less heavy usage from Taylor. Right now, JT is the complete package at running back, with exceptional youth, talent and athleticism, production, and character—featuring a rare combination of speed and power.
