Unbelivable News Update: The former head coach of the Indianapolis Colts,Frank Reich, has officially announced his return to the team.
Frank Reich, the former coach of the Colts, stated earlier this month that he wasn’t “even close to bitter” over being let go by the organization this season.
That may be partially because, per ESPN, he will get up to $36 million from the organization until 2026. It was mentioned in an NFL piece that revealed teams have lost $800 million on fired executives and coaches in the previous five years.
Earlier this month, Reich expressed his gratitude to the Irsay family and said, “I’m thankful for my time in Indianapolis.” Reich plans to keep coaching. “He provided me with the chance to lead as a head coach.”
Doyel: Chris Ballard has to go if Frank Reich had to, and he did.
On August 11, 2021, the Colts announced Reich’s contract extension until 2026, along with general manager Chris Ballard. However, they withheld Reich’s compensation. With a 3-5-1 record, he was fired on November 7. Jeff Saturday, an interim coach without any prior NFL or college coaching experience, took over as head coach. With a 33-0 fourth-quarter deficit against Dallas and a 33-point deficit to Minnesota in his previous two outings, Saturday is 1-4.
In addition to the Colts’ sub-.500 record this year, Reich was 40-33-1 as their coach and led the team to the playoffs twice in his more than four seasons in the role. However, the team ended the 2021 season with back-to-back humiliating losses.
The team owner, Jim Irsay, said in a statement announcing the extensions, “We have as great a general manager-head coach combination as there is in the NFL in Chris Ballard and Frank Reich, and I can’t tell you how proud I am to have them leading our franchise.” “I really think that this football team is about to do amazing things, and I attribute it to the culture that both of them have fostered during their tenure at the Horseshoe. We have the perfect leaders in Chris and Frank, whether we are advancing to the postseason or overcoming hardship, developing our team or improving the city.
