A significant setback: The Memphis Tigers have made it official that they will be selling the all-time great player who wasn’t the main target for sale.

Tennessee’s Memphis Since Memphis won’t be participating in March Madness until 2021, Tigers players are visiting the website.

The most recent Tiger to do so is backup point guard Jayhlon Young, a source close to the program confirmed to ABC24.

One of Memphis’ best defenders and ball handlers was the redshirt junior. He made 27 appearances, scoring 2.2 points and pulling down one rebound each time.

Young enters the gateway with forward Jonathan Pierre.

Although it is more rare, players’ return to Memphis is not completely ruled out, even if they use the portal.

It’s no secret that keeping senior forward David Jones this summer is crucial, and that becomes even more important now that Pierre and Young have a better idea of what else is available.

At most, the Tigers will bring back four scholarship players.

Nashville On social media, there were a lot of visceral responses to Saturday’s postponed Memphis vs. Tennessee basketball game.

Even after it was announced that the game had to be canceled because of COVID-19 concerns inside the Tigers program, Twitter, in particular, continued to be flooded with critical comments from both the fan base and those who were merely casual watchers.

In brief, the game was canceled about 90 minutes before the scheduled tip-off on Saturday, before the Tigers arrived at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. A little while later, the volunteers, who were already inside the building, took the floor for an intrasquad scrimmage. On Saturday, the coaches and players of Memphis declined to respond to the media.

MEMPHIS BASKETBALL: The following events led to the cancellation of the Memphis Tigers vs. Tennessee Vols basketball game.

Many UT supporters speculated that Memphis’ COVID-19 problems could have been a smoke screen to avoid facing the Vols, who are rated 18th.

One need only look elsewhere to find out how the Memphis players themselves felt about the situation, particularly the idea that they were inadvertently sidestepping the Vols. A number of Tigers shared their thoughts about the day’s happenings on Twitter.

More accurately than any other Tiger, junior guard Landers Nolley II stated that UT saved a loss on Saturday.
