Terrible information: Tiger Cats head coach is suspended following evidence of an affair with his key player’s wife
The Ticats made their participation in the “Be More Than a Bystander” campaign public on Thursday. It’s a collaborative project with Hamilton’s Interval House, which provides abused women with support and refuge.
The show will include players Terrell Davis, Justin Vaughn, Courtney Stephen, and former Ticat Mike Morreale.
The team will use the program to record a number of PSAs that will be shown during 2018 Ticats games and other events. In February 2018, they will also visit high schools, and the following spring, thousands of high school students will be welcomed.
Following a sexual assault controversy at Baylor University last year, Briles lost his job as head coach. A woman claimed in a recently settled lawsuit that during Briles’ tenure as head coach, she was aware of at least 52 instances of sexual assault by over 30 football players.
Less than a day after hiring Briles, the Ticats withdrew the offer due to criticism from the fan base and the community.
On Thursday, Scott Mitchell, the CEO of the Ticats, addressed the Briles situation. Mitchell called it a mistake.
“You have a choice as to how you will respond when something like that occurs. Of course, I think we’ve made an effort to collaborate with our partners to respond positively.”

According to Mitchell, the team took some time to finalize the program with Interval House because they wanted to be sure they could fully commit to it.
The executive director of Interval House, Nancy Smith, stated that Thursday’s news is “not really about Art Briles.”
