At UNC, RJ Davis and his partner Deja Kelly are a dominant basketball duo.
Kelly has had an equally successful career playing for the university’s women’s basketball team, while Davis has garnered attention with the North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team during March Madness.
Davis and Kelly, both guards for their respective teams and seniors at UNC, have enthralled fans with their endearing romance.
In addition to traveling abroad and engaging in friendly competition, they showcase their love story on social media when they’re not working out together on the court.

Kelly is from further south, whereas Davis was born in White Plains, New York. She was born on September 8, 2001.
Educated at Lady Bird Johnson before going to Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas, she was raised in San Antonio, Texas.

Basketball is ingrained in Kelly’s genetics. According to UNC’s athletic website, her father, Darren Kelly, played basketball at the University of Texas, while her mother, Theresa Nunn, attended Valley City State University.
Her early basketball career was greatly influenced by her mother, who reared her as a single parent. Her mother said to The Daily Tar Heel, “I had to sacrifice a lot.” Additionally, she was consistently quite
conscious of that. I believe that she had to work even harder because I gave up things I desired for both of my children in order to ensure that they had everything they needed to succeed.
At age five, she began playing basketball.
Kelly’s early love for basketball is understandable given her parents’ involvement in the game. According to The Daily Tar Heel, she started playing on San Antonio, Texas, courts at the tender age of five.
When she was in middle school, she began to get recruited by prestigious institutions with her mother’s support. She declared her intention to attend the University of Texas, her father’s alma mater, in the seventh grade, but she later changed her mind during her sophomore year.
In 2019, after receiving offers from Texas A&M, Duke, and Minnesota, she decided to enroll at UNC.

Kelly debuted for the UNC women’s basketball team in November 2020. According to her bio on UNC’s website, she participated in all 24 games during her rookie season, starting 23 of them, and was selected to both the All-ACC Academic Team and the ACC All-Freshman Team.
She is a senior at UNC right now, and for the 2023–24 women’s basketball season, she captained the team.
She took part in the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in 2023.
Kelly competed for the United States at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in Mexico in 2023, helping her side to victory in the silver medal match.
Her area of study is broadcast journalism.
Kelly, a UNC student majoring in broadcast journalism, was previously an anchor for the school’s student-run program Sports Xtra. According to UNC’s athletic website, Kelly hopes to play in the WNBA and work as an ESPN announcer after graduation.

In 2022, Davis and Kelly began dating, and they marked their one-year anniversary with a charming TikTok in December 2023. Since then, the couple has shared multiple glimpses of their romance on social media, including photos from their romantic vacation in August 2023 and their time spent playing basketball together in September 2023 while wearing matching Tar Heel uniforms.
