Alex Rae’s contract is up at the end of the season and Clement could make changes in the dug-out.
According to reports, experienced Dutch coach Andries Ulderink will be moving to Ibrox this summer in an attempt to strengthen Philippe Clement’s Rangers coaching staff.
Ulderink is now Royal Antwerp’s assistant manager under Mark van Bommel, however he has already made it known that he will be leaving the Belgian team at the end of the current campaign. Furthermore, he is reportedly planning to relocate to Glasgow to work as Clement’s assistant coach, casting doubt on Alex Rae’s future as his contract is up at the end of the current campaign.
Ulderink, 54, played two years as Jaap Stam’s backup at Reading, giving him expertise in British football. After that, he managed Ajax Cape Town in South Africa. After that, he returned home and took over as Twente Enschede’s No. 2 under manager Ron Jans. Ulderink is well-liked for having managed Go Ahead Eagles, De Graafschap, and Jong Ajax in the past. He then helped van Bommel at Antwerp.
The former Manchester United defender Stam gave an explanation for why he selected Ulderink to be his assistant in 2016. He began coaching at the age of 24 and has never played for a professional team.
“I talked to him about his philosophy and what he wanted to do, and it clicked,” the man stated. He has extensive management, scheduling, coaching, and other experience. It was exactly what I needed to hear—you don’t always have to be a professional athlete to succeed in a particular league.
Although he was considered for the NAC Breda position last month, it appears that he will be joining Clement at Rangers as the Belgian reorganizes his team after their unsuccessful title campaign this season.
