Russell Wilson and Justin Fields’ quarterback duels with the Pittsburgh Steelers are among the most talked-about in the NFL.
Pittsburgh Steelers adjusting QB Justin Fields mechanics - Behind the Steel Curtain

Both quarterbacks were added by Pittsburgh in March. On the first day of free agency, the Steelers signed Wilson, and they soon after traded for Fields, Kenny Pickett.

Despite Fields’ extraordinary dynamic, the Bears were clearly willing to pass on him and choose Caleb Williams for other reasons. However, as noted by Derrick Bell of Steelers Now, Pittsburgh is doing everything in its power to assist Fields in realizing his full potential and getting things back on track. One area of focus for Fields is his mechanics.

In order to accommodate the timing of most NFL concepts, Fields has modified his right foot forward stance over the years, according to Bell. Fields is getting back to his natural mechanics with the Steelers and is focusing more on processing information fast in the pocket. In order to reduce bad plays, Pittsburgh wants to increase Justin Fields’ processing speed in the pocket. They believe he needs to be as comfortable as possible with his mechanical changes in order to do that. In an effort to improve his game in comfortable surroundings, Fields is likely to return to much of what makes him comfortable on the field.
