Kenny Payne believes he was “on the right page” during a men’s basketball game in Louisville.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – When the head coach of a major collegiate athletics program is terminated from his position, we usually hear some form of final message from the fired party. Regardless of whether it takes place in the form of a statement or a press conference, most often it is us, the coach, who say our final goodbyes.

It’s been over two months since Kenny Payne was fired as the head coach of the Louisville men’s basketball team, and we haven’t heard a goodbye in that time. His most recent public comments came after the Cardinals’ season-ending loss to Boston College in the ACC Tournament, where he essentially threw both his players and UofL fans under the bus.

Payne, reuniting with John Calipari as associate head coach at Arkansas, recently sat down for an interview with the Razorbacks fan site Hogs+. In a 96-second clip posted to Twitter/X by Hogs+, Payne discussed being fired from his alma mater.
