REPORTING: Dan Hurley reveals Bronny James was ‘not specifically’ brought up by the Lakers.

During the questioning process, Dan Hurley disclosed that he did not discuss Bronny James with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Why was Stugotz of the Dan Le Batard Show asking this? Hurley might be a huge asset to James’ NBA development as the Lakers’ coach, according to a prior report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Along with his father LeBron James remaining a Laker for the 2024–25 campaign. If Hurley overheard Bronny James’ name, it wasn’t during any talks with Los Angeles.

Bronny James was not a highly sought-after NBA prospect due to his cardiac arrest recovery, limited playing time, and stats while at USC. However, he decided to turn pro after using the transfer portal and considering his choices at the scouting combine.

Heck, aside from the Lakers and Phoenix Suns, Bronny James turned down every chance to work out with an NBA team. Rich Paul, the agent for LeBron James, provided a statement to ESPN on behalf of his father.

Paul told ESPN, “Bronny’s [draft] range is wide.” He’s a great talent with lots of untapped potential. One team is all that is needed. I don’t care if that squad is ranked first or fifty-eighth; what matters to me is the development and the plan. The group’s approach, both the financial investment and the opportunity. I’m not doing a two-way contract because of this. Every squad is aware of that.

James was a highly sought-after high school recruit out of Sierra Canyon, California. The On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that takes into account all four major recruiting media companies, rated James as a four-star prospect and the No. 25 overall recruit and point guard in the 2023 cycle.
