Paris Olympics: Novak Djokovic to compete at Games for Serbia - BBC Sport

Tennis player Novak Djokovic has shared a video of himself working out in the gym. According to world No. 10, Taylor Fritz, Djokovic has reached out to him to inquire on his recuperation. After the 2021 French Open, Fritz had surgery, and he recovered in time to compete at Wimbledon.

Regarding his recuperation from knee surgery, Taylor Fritz disclosed that Novak Djokovic had “reached out” to him. According to Fritz, “it’s possible” the 24-time Grand Slam champion will be ready for Wimbledon.

After the French Open, Djokovic had knee surgery, and it looks like he’s running out of time to recover in time for Wimbledon and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Three weeks following the surgery, he participated in Wimbledon and advanced to the third round.

According to Fritz, Djokovic has contacted him and asked him “some questions” on his recuperation.
Djokovic has been added to Serbia’s Olympic tennis team.

He remarked, “I told him what it was like for me,” at Queen’s, according to tennis365.

“A lot of it depends on your response and the level of inflammation. Novak could be able to play. I had the exact same thing and toyed with it. I was obviously not trying to win a title; I was just hoping to win a few rounds, but it is a possibility.

Djokovic has shared a video of himself working out in the gym on social media. Following surgery, he stated that he aims to return “as soon as possible.”
Fritz claimed that in “five to six days” following surgery, he was hitting once more.

“I couldn’t even walk when I did it. Individuals differ from one another. The actual injury is the same. The degree of inflammation is actually what matters,” he remarked.

“Almost instantly, you are at full strength. It’s mostly simply the post-operative inflammation. You should be good to play as long as you can figure it out and get back to playing without it blowing up again.

“I was really determined to play Wimbledon, so I was doing three to four hours of physical therapy, icing a lot, and trying to stick to a diet that would not cause extra inflammation.”

However, it was a little bit different for me. Novak wants to be there to win if he attends Wimbledon. “I was going to be a low seed anyway, so playing the entire tournament is different from me going there at the time.” For me, winning a few rounds was a good outcome.

Fritz advanced to the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2022 and has advanced to that round in the last two majors.

He defeated Taro Daniel at Queen’s on Tuesday to begin his grass season.

“I feel like I played pretty solid to be honest, but this is my first week on grass and the first year I’ve never not played on grass before this week. I haven’t done a lot of practicing,” he added.

“It all comes down to timing. That is a major component of my strategy. On grass, my backhand and serve are really effective for me. It’s about adjusting and becoming accustomed to it. The first two weeks of a grass court season are the one time I’ve ever had a successful season. My last two weeks have been full of success.

“My goal is to make sure I’m playing my best tennis for Wimbledon by being here and trying to find it and figure things out.”
