Utah jazz ɓest player says good bye as he confirm that this will be his last season due to his new contract with…
The Utah Jazz are in a confusing spot in their conquest for an NBA championship.
While they seemingly found their franchise cornerstone in Lauri Markkanen, the rest of the roster hasn’t stepped up the way the front office hoped they would.
However, there’s one name currently linked to the Jazz that may split the Jazz fandom.
Some may feel his addition would be a net positive for the team, while others will heed his final game with his former team as a warning sign to keep him away with a ten-foot pole.
REPORT: The Utah Jazz are interested in signing Philadelphia 76ers’ Tobias Harris in free agency
Tobias Harris is a decent basketball player. His career numbers will confirm that he’s a strong contributor to the teams he’s played for.
His historical performances in the regular season and the playoffs are likely the biggest draws behind the Jazz’s surprising interest in him.
The Jazz found themselves missing out on the playoffs with a disappointing 31-51 record, and the team is already looking for ways to bring reinforcements to the squad.
There have been talks of trading away Jordan Clarkson and Colin Sexton for other players that could ease the burden on Markkanen in different ways.
It’s not hard to see why multiple teams are interested in acquiring the 31-year-old swingman.
In the 70 regular-season games Harris played for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, he averaged 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists a game.
However, every basketball fan in Philly would agree that Harris was the worst thing to happen for the team’s championship aspirations in the Joel Embiid era.
The Sixers gave Harris a five-year, $180-million extension and let Jimmy Butler walk to the Miami Heat.
Since then, Jimmy Buckets led the Heat to two Finals appearances while Philly didn’t even manage to get to the Eastern Conference Finals.
To make matters worse, Harris’ final game with the Sixers saw him score zero points.
Harris would be a great player to place alongside Markkanen, and he’ll likely fetch a pretty penny for his services.
However, the Jazz better be careful in offering him a contract as keeping Lauri in Salt Lake City should be their top priority.
