On Friday, Ceyair Wright pledged to play football for Nebraska. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback left the team toward the end of the 2023 season and played at USC before using the transfer portal. Wright is still eligible for two seasons.

In 2022, Wright started 11 of the team’s 14 games at cornerback while serving as a redshirt freshman. Along with 28 tackles, he also added two pass breakups and an interception.

Wright is a valuable acquisition to the Blackshirts. One side is anticipated to be secured by Tommi Hill, but the other is still up for debate. Move Due to an injury sustained during the Red-White Spring Game, Blye Hill will miss some time this season. Despite being one of the team’s most athletic players, Jeremiah Charles is a rookie who has never played a full season.

Wright was ranked by 247Sports as the No. 7 cornerback and No. 78 overall talent in the nation in 2021. Although he visited Lincoln first, he had already committed to USC, Nebraska was one of his top choices at the time.

Away from the field, Wright portrayed one of NBA player LeBron James’ offspring in the 2021 film Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Wright joins NU as its ninth transfer of the cycle. Alongside him are Isaiah Neyor (Texas), Jahmal Banks (Wake Forest), Stefon Thompson (Syracuse), Dante Dowdell (Oregon), Vincent Genatone (Montana), Micah Mazzccua (Florida), and Blye Hill (Saint Francis).
