AC/DC Celebrates 25 Years Of “Stiff Upper Lip” – A Look Back At The Album’s Recording With George Young…….

This month marks the 25th anniversary of AC/DC’s critically-acclaimed album “Stiff Upper Lip.” Released in 2000, the album was a major comeback for the band, and featured some of their most iconic tracks in years.

To celebrate this milestone, we’re taking a look back at the album’s recording process, with insights from Angus Young and Brian Johnson. In a 2000 interview, the duo sat down to discuss working with producer George Young, and the experience of creating “Stiff Upper Lip.”

“We were all feeling pretty energized and enthusiastic about getting back into the studio,” Angus Young recalled. “We’d taken a bit of a break, and we were all raring to go. George Young was the perfect producer to work with – he’s got a great ear for rock ‘n’ roll, and he knows how to get the best out of us.”

Brian Johnson added, “George is like a sixth member of the band. He’s been around since the early days, and he knows our sound inside and out. We trust him implicitly, and he always brings out the best in us.”

The recording process for “Stiff Upper Lip” was marked by a return to the band’s hard-rock roots. After experimenting with different sounds and styles on their previous album, “Ballbreaker,” AC/DC was determined to create a record that was pure, unadulterated rock ‘n’ roll.

“We wanted to make a record that was just about the music,” Angus explained. “No frills, no fuss – just a bunch of guys playing rock ‘n’ roll. George was totally on board with that, and he helped us to create an album that’s just about the music.”

The result was an album that featured some of AC/DC’s most iconic tracks in years, including the title track “Stiff Upper Lip,” “Safe in New York City,” and “Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
