I noticed several editing mistakes in Married at First Sight season 18, and I don’t think the show is done making production errors. The second and final part of Married at First Sight season 18’s reunion has concluded, and fans have the “Where Are They Now?” episode to look forward to before the season is officially over. Married At First Sight has always been a reality TV product of Lifetime Network, which is owned by A+E Networks. However, in 2025, with the premiere of MAFS season 19, Peacock will take over as the streaming platform.
Typically, there has been a four to six-month hiatus between seasons, but with the platform change, that could change, although there is no official word on that. MAFS has engaged viewers since its pilot season in 2014, and the franchise has been turning out around two seasons a year. While MAFS is with Lifetime this season, I think production has dropped the ball in several instances, and it’s leading me to believe that more mistakes could happen in the final episode and potentially beyond.
I Think Production Interference Will Continue
Production Interference Has Happened The Last Two Seasons
Production interference is defined by producers breaking the fourth wall and inserting themselves into the situations on the show, whether it’s on or off camera. In MAFS season 17, there was an incident off-camera of producer interference when Becca Haley’s husband, Austin Reed, hung out with a female producer and their cast mate, Brendan Shoyket, in a night on the town the evening of decision day. Austin lied to Becca about it in front of the entire season 17 cast, and Becca ended their marriage.
In MAFS season 18, David Trimble and Madison Myers had an affair that they continuously lied about. Only after being confronted by a producer who prompted her to come clean, did Madison consult David and admit the cheating to the group and their spouses.
Being that producer interference seems to be a new theme in MAFS, I believe it will continue to happen.
To me, the season 17 producer interference was inappropriate, as it directly affected the outcome of one marriage, but in season 18, I thought the producer stepped in to instigate on-screen drama.
