Here’s what Steve Belichick said on the Green Light podcast with Chris Long: “His hobbies would still be to, I would say, critique football. He was excited when I came out here (to the Pacific Northwest) because he got to evaluate the scheme last year, evaluate the players last year. I’m sure he’ll come out here at some point to do some stuff. But the guy just loves football, so there’s definitely that element. He’s definitely pursuing some other stuff, whether it’s TV, or be a regular on the Green Light. I think he’s good. Let this stuff roll off your back and move forward. He doesn’t dwell, unless we lost a game and he needs to get on some guys. But mentally you got to turn the page.”
This does not mean coach Bill Belichick won’t be searching for a new coaching job when the opportunity presents itself. All it means is that he will try to continue linked to the game in one way or the other. Football is his life, he can’t just turn around and walk away that easily. For people like coach Belichick, this game will remain as one of their true loves until the day they die.
