Heartbreaking news: Caitlin Clark has terminate her contract to sign a new contract
Online debate over Caitlin Clark’s rookie deal has been heated, with sports fans disagreeing over whether the college basketball star’s pay is too low.
Clark became the first pick of 2024 when she was chosen by Indiana Fever on Monday during the WNBA draft’s first round.
“Don’t feel sorry for her; she is heavily endorsed by brands like Nike and Gatorade. She’ll be alright,” Patrick Lac remarked.
“She will make more from brand deals, and I hope her agent does a real real good job with the negotiations!!” mentioned JuiceHT1.
In recent years, the mystique of college basketball has been attributed with increasing NCAA viewership.
The NCAA Women’s Final Four match-up earlier this month had an average ticket price of $726, while Iowa’s championship game versus the South Carolina Gamecocks had an average of 18.7 million viewers—more than any previous basketball event since 2019—peaking at 24.1 million.
The 22-year-old is the all-time highest NCAA Division I scorer in both the men’s and women’s divisions with 3,951 points earned during her collegiate career. Playing point guard, Clark made two consecutive national championship final appearances for the Iowa Hawkeyes
Clark won two Associated Press Player of the Year awards and was a four-time AP All-American in addition to shattering the record for highest point scorer. Among many other honors, she has also received the Wade Trophy and the Naismith Award thrice.
Within an hour of the selection announcement, Clark’s name was emblazoned on Indiana Fever jerseys, and the MVP winner has already demonstrated her earning potential.
Clark, a former student, is reputedly worth $3 million. He has ties with Nike, Gatorade, State Farm, and Buick.
