It’s possible that the man we’ve all grown to love as “Riverboat Ron” is currently up s***’s creek without a paddle.

When Ron Rivera was hired ahead of the 2020 season, he and others in the Commanders organization must have expected different outcomes from his time as head coach of the Washington Commanders.

Over the course of Rivera’s three plus seasons in D.C., the Commanders have finished 26-33-1 and have only made one postseason berth while winning the 7-9 division.

When asked if he had given his future as the head coach of Washington any thought during his media availability today, Ron Rivera responded in a way that could only come from someone who is aware of how dire things truly are for him (h/t Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post).

“I’m not going to back down on anything, even if I understand the situation and the circumstances. I’ll stick to my original topic from the spring, which was the offensive line’s and the quarterback’s development.

With what we’re doing and the way we’re doing things, I believe. It resembles the course of events that might occur.

The main reason I’m disappointed is that we haven’t performed as well defensively as we should have. Does that mean my job security is in jeopardy? It might. To be honest, I have no idea what Mr. Harris will do.
