The Celtic FC Women manager was standing next to a recent arrival inside the trophy room—the SWPL1 trophy—when Elena Sadiku, speaking on behalf of The Celtic Star, addressed me the day after the previous evening in the boardroom at Celtic Park!
Elena discusses her difficult beginning with the team, having lost her opening two matches to Glasgow City and the Rangers. She talks with pride about her players and how they have performed for her since joining the team in January, sharing with us the moment she felt that the team could actually succeed in winning the SWPL1 title for the first time in the club’s history.
Elena talks about the incredible moment when Amy Gallacher scored against the Hibs on Sunday in the ninetieth minute and the commotion caused by the crazed Celtic fans.
Looking ahead, Elena disclosed that she has a contract with a new player that is pending signature; presumably, this will be released soon, and more players are anticipated to join as she has the first opportunity to mold the team in her own image.
