In the Indiana Fever’s 91-83 victory over the Chicago Sky on Sunday, Caitlin Clark accomplished yet another historic feat.
Clark made WNBA history by becoming the first player to have 200+ points, 75+ rebounds, and 75+ assists in a game against the Sky.
In her first 15 WNBA games, Clark has scored 242 points, disheveled 93 assists, and pulled down 76 rebounds. Clark has 15 blocks and 19 thefts thus far this season.
In Sunday’s Fever victory over the Sky, Clark recorded 23 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. The 6-foot rookie guard made 7 of 11 free throws, three of which came from beyond the 3-point line. In her brief career, Clark has surpassed the 20-point mark seven times.
The nine assists matched Clark’s career high and the Fever also dished out a season-high 23 assists.
“One of the biggest things to learn as I go through my rookie season is just finding some consistency. And obviously, it’s been hard. It’s been a tough stretch at the beginning just with the amount of games we’ve played and the limited practice as I’m trying to get to know my teammates and know the coaching staff, but I feel like I have gotten more comfortable over the course of these games,” Clark said.
Clark surpassed Shannon Johnson, who had previously achieved the feat during the 1999 WNBA season with the Orlando Miracle. Johnson was several years removed from her collegiate career at South Carolina when she accomplished the feat, though, as Johnson spent the first two seasons of her professional career with the Columbus Quest in the American Basketball League. Clark is averaging 16.1 points, 6.2 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game on the season.
Clark made more WNBA history on Sunday when the Fever defeated the Sky. Since Stewart accomplished it in the 2016 campaign, Clark is the first WNBA rookie to record 15+ points, five+ rebounds, and five+ assists in five games. Stewart was the previous record holder in this regard.
