Albion Rrahmani is still a target for Rangers, who are expected to sign him this summer, according to Football Scotland.
The newspaper stated on its website on June 17 that, as Philippe Clement looks to bolster his squad at Ibrox during the transfer season, a Romanian source had suggested the Light Blues were in the best position to capture the striker.
This is true even though Viorel Moldovan, the president of Rapid Bucharest, has openly stated that the club would want to retain the highly sought-after Kosovan player because there has only been one bid thus far, and that offer has been judged unsuitable.
“Rrahmani is currently the subject of an offer that, in our opinion, falls short of his worth and status,” he stated. We want Rrahmani to stay with us; I’m not sure whose side it is.
“In addition, he has a contract with the team, which is great news for us because we know he will be crucial to our success.
“He is a balanced boy, but it is not easy to handle such a period. Things can be enticing when you hear that you have offers, maybe for the better. I believe he will still be with us.
Rrahmani appears to have impressed the Ibrox leadership following his breakout season in which he scored 17 goals in just 26 appearances for Neil Lennon’s new team.
With Danilo recovering from a catastrophic injury, Sam Lammers anticipated to be sold, and Cyriel Dessers unreliable although showing some encouraging signs in scoring 22 last season, it is imperative to add a top-tier new option up front.
Rangers are reportedly willing to offer as much as €6 million [£5.7 million] for the 23-year-old Rahmani, which would be a ten-fold increase over what he cost last year, according to Digi Sport on June 6.
