FINAL DEAL: Football player Jack Thomson, a promising prospect from Cambusnethan, formally signs a professional deal with Celtic.
After earning his first professional deal with Celtic, a bright Cambusnethan kid is aiming to reach the top.
Jack Thomson, 16, is one of nine academy players who were offered professional terms by the Glasgow club. He joined the club from local side Mossend back in 2022, and his parents, Gordon and Lorraine, siblings, Harry and Olivia, and grandparents, Gordon and Jan, were all present when he officially signed on at Celtic Park.
Jack, a gifted young man who attended Braidhurst and Coltness High Schools, joined the Hoops a few days after turning 16 and will now devote all of his attention to football.
Gordon, a proud grandfather, stated, “I’m very proud of him.” After all of his hard work, he truly deserves it.
“He has made tremendous progress, and the club has had great success with him.” Although Jack is a very sensible youngster, I have no doubt that he will succeed.
“Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of nine of our Academy players on their first professional contracts,” according to a statement on the team’s website.
Jack Thomson, Owen Hartington, Josh Mulgrew, Jacob Donnelly, Aodhan Taylor, Samuel Sedwell, Corey Shaw, Ezekiel Molife, and Cameron Patterson have all advanced in their football careers by signing professional contracts with the team ahead of the 2024–2025 campaign.
“Any young player at the club simply needs to turn to the men’s first team for inspiration—members such as Callum McGregor, the captain, Stephen Welsh, Anthony Ralston, and James Forrest are all products of Celtic’s Youth Academy.
“We at Celtic Football Club wish the players all the best and are excited to follow their professional journeys in the years to come.”
