Striker for Aston Villa, who has been doing admirably for his team
After missing out on a chance in the draw with North Macedonia, Villa star Ollie Watkins is keen to fight for his place in the England team.
Gareth Southgate gave the striker, who has been playing well for his team, a chance right away in Monday’s EURO qualifier.
Watkins, though, seemed unhappy and had a difficult game as England trailed 1-0 before finally drawing 1-1.
After 58 minutes, Watkins was replaced by Harry Kane, the star player from Bayern Munich, who made an immediate impression by helping to set up the own goal that tied the score between England and Germany.
Watkins believes he has done enough to remain in the squad despite the underwhelming performance, and he will compete to be on the plane to the EUROs in the summer.
“I feel like I’ve proved myself so far, but we’re only early on in the season,” Watkins said.
“Everyone is aware of Harry’s abilities, but I offer something unique.
“I just have to keep going, keep doing well for my club and see where that takes me at the end of the season.”
