Visentini signs with the Bombers in the 2023 AFL Rookie Draft
Ruck Vigo Visentini of Essendon was chosen with pick No. 8 in the 2023 AFL Rookie Draft.
Visentini, who is 204 cm tall, is a strong and aggressive player that moves effectively over the pitch to assist his midfielders and help out in defense.
Visentini played for Vic Metro at the National Championships, recording 34 hit-outs and 15 disposals in a fantastic performance against Western Australia.
Visentini had a great second half of the season with the Sandringham Dragons in the Coates Talent League.
Vigo is a feisty stopping ruckman who plays similarly to Port Adelaide’s Dante Visentini, the club champion Jobe Watson’s coach at Xavier College, where Vigo won a best and fairest award.
Adrian Dodoro, general manager of lists and recruiting, is thrilled that the 18-year-old has secured an AFL opportunity with the Bombers.
“We’re really excited to welcome Vigo to the club from the Sandringham Dragons and Vic Metro programs,” Dodoro said.
“We’re projecting for the future with Vigo. He’ll come in and require a fair bit of development, but we’re really confident that his ruck craft, aggression, and marking traits will allow him to be a very good player for us.”
