Josh Tongue, who is injured, is replaced by Matt Potts for England’s West Indies white-ball trip.
Josh Tongue’s injury kept him out of the series, therefore Matthew Potts has been called up to the England ODI team for their white ball trip of the Caribbean next month.
Due to an injury sustained during the current England Lions training camp in the United Arab Emirates, Tongue will miss the three-match ODI series as well as the five-match T20I series. His injury has not been described in any more detail.
For the ODI series, Potts, who is presently in the UAE for a training camp, has been called up to replace him.
Regarding Tongue’s replacement for the T20I series, no information has been provided. Potts has played in three ODIs; his most recent being in September versus Ireland.
On Sunday, December 3, the three-match ODI series will get underway in Antigua. The next match in the series is scheduled to take place there on December 6.
The series’ last game is scheduled for December 9 in Barbados, the same island that will host the T20I series’ opening game on December 12.
Having made his Test debut against Ireland at Lord’s this year, Tongue has yet to make his debut in an international white ball match.
After that, he participated in the Lord’s Ashes Test, where he claimed five wickets, two of which came from the dismissals of David Warner and Steve Smith.
Jos Buttler (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Tom Hartley, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Ollie Pope, Phil Salt, Josh Tongue, and John Turner are the England ODI team against the West Indies.
