Sad News:  just now alpine ski racer Star Loses Battle with Cancer…

The skiing community is in mourning today as news broke that American alpine ski racer, Kyle Smaine, has lost his battle with cancer. Smaine, who was just 31 years old, passed away on Tuesday, surrounded by his loved ones.

Smaine was a rising star in the skiing world, having competed in multiple World Cup events and representing the United States at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. He was known for his fearless and aggressive skiing style, which earned him a reputation as one of the most exciting young skiers on the circuit.

However, in 2020, Smaine’s skiing career was put on hold when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Despite undergoing treatment and surgery, the cancer had spread, and Smaine’s health began to decline.

“Kyle was an incredible skier, but more importantly, he was an amazing person,” said Smaine’s coach, Sasha Rearick. “He had a heart of gold and was loved by everyone in the skiing community. His passing leaves a huge void in our lives, and he will be deeply missed.”

Smaine’s teammates and fellow skiers took to social media to pay tribute to their fallen friend.

“Kyle was a true champion, both on and off the mountain,” wrote Olympic gold medalist, Ted Ligety. “He inspired us all with his courage and determination, and his passing is a huge loss for our community.”

The skiing community is in shock and mourning today, as news of Smaine’s passing spreads. He will be remembered as a talented and fearless skier, but more importantly, as a kind and compassionate person who touched the lives of everyone he met.

“Kyle’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories we shared with him on and off the mountain,” said Rearick. “He will be deeply missed, but his spirit and love for skiing will continue to inspire us all.”

In lieu of flowers, the Smaine family has requested that donations be made to the Kyle Smaine Foundation, which will support young skiers and cancer research.

Rest in peace, Kyle Smaine. Your love for skiing and your infectious spirit will never be forgotten.
