Ohio State safety Cameron Martinez announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal.
The Muskegon (Mich.) native spoke to 247Sports about his next move.
“Really my biggest thing I’m looking for at the next school is the opportunity to kind of show my entire skill set and continue my development,” he said.
“I think I developed my all around skill set and there’s some things that also came naturally to me and so that’s led to me wanting to be somewhere I can move around more or play more of a traditional safety, or even go back to the other side of the ball.”
The other side of the ball is an intriguing possibility for Martinez who was a dynamic offensive player in high school as a quarterback and some schools recruited him as a receiver. He was a two-time Michigan High School Player of the Year.
“I’m open to any part of the country, just looking for best fit,” he said.
Martinez had 36 tackles, an interception (returned for a touchdown) and four pass break-ups in his Buckeye career.
He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
The transfer portal officially opens December 4th, and schools will be able to contact and offer Martinez and other FBS transfers then.
