Jilly Anais was criticized by those she played collegiate sports with
Jilly Anais, the girlfriend of Deshaun Watson, has carved a significant presence in the realm of social media, amassing a substantial following through her musical endeavors, although she also had a promising college sporting career.
She was an exceptional cheerleader during her time in college, and moving into adulthood, she appears unfazed by detractors.
Ever since she began her courtship with Watson, she has gone online to share insights into their relationship, as well as dismissing anyone who brought up his controversial past.
However, Anais recently found herself embroiled in controversy due to an Instagram post where she shared questionable details about her college experience.
In a GRWM (Get Ready With Me) video, she claimed to have orchestrated a rescheduling of a cheerleading competition, asserting her pivotal role in both a cheer squad and dance team.
Allegedly, the competition was shifted from 4:00 PM to 4:00 AM to accommodate her dual commitments, leading to her team’s triumphant first-place finish.
“When I was younger my parents had me in every sport you could ever even imagine,” Anais said in the GRWM video.
“Yes, every sport. I was on the competitive cheer squad and I was also on the competitive dance team. One day we had competition on the exact same day and the exact same time.
“I was such an important part of both teams that my cheer squad moved our competition from 4:00 PM to 4:00 AM. So, you can only imagine how my team felt about me. They were like, ‘we’re moving our competition because of her.’ Needless to say, we ended up winning first place because of mwah.”
Former teammates dispute Anais’ version of events
This narrative, however, was met with skepticism from fans and former teammates. Some criticized Anais for potentially fabricating the story, with one follower questioning her motives and labeling the video as “cringe.”
A member of the Dawson team explicitly refuted any alteration to the competition schedule, and another follower questioned whether Anais had overlooked the fact that real-life acquaintances were among her Instagram followers.
“No, they didn’t move any competitions for her. I was on the Dawson cheer team with her… she was my base actually and that never happened lol. Cheer competitions have never started earlier,” explained former teammate Kailey Walton.
