proposed postponing his return to WWE following the deathWhen Baker’s grandmother passed away, Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda), with whom Jason Baker had a close working relationship, expressed a desire to postpone his WWE comeback at Extreme Rules 2022.

Wyatt offering him to push the return from Extreme Rules 2022, according to Baker, was disclosed in a recent interview with Metro UK.

On August 24, 2023, Wyatt, then 36 years old, passed away at home from a heart attack while he was asleep.

Here are a few highlights from the conversation:

Regarding Wyatt’s proposal to put off the return: “I essentially just drove him to the airport and dropped him off; he was going to return home for a few days, after which we were going to finalize everything for the return of Extreme Rules.”

After dropping him off at the airport, I received a call from my mother an hour later informing me of her passing. I texted him and said, “Hey man, I got the call.”

“Do you want to push this back?” Windham asks, not missing a beat. I was thinking, “What?” And He

“Dude, look, I know I’m not from the wrestling world, but I know how much of a unicorn second chance is in that industry, and I can’t ask you to do that,” he said, expressing how much the offer touched him.

But he was a wonderful person, that’s just the way he was. Beyond all of his hard work and incredible wrestling accomplishments, he was an incredible person and friend.

Regarding his role as the man hiding behind the Fiend mask at Extreme Rules: “They said, ‘We’re going to have The Fiend too, above all the puppets.'” We were going to choose someone at random, but Windham says to Jason, “No, you have to play The Fiend.” There is only you.
